StitchCrew Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by Announcing the Fourth OKC Latino Accelerator Cohort
StitchCrew’s OKC Latino Accelerator program has helped 40 Latino-owned businesses in Oklahoma City develop a path to grow their business to $1 million dollars in revenue.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, StitchCrew, an organization investing in the new majority entrepreneurs, proudly announces the ten entrepreneurs selected for its Fall 2024 OKC Latino Accelerator Cohort. This cohort will mark the fourth iteration of the program, bringing the total number of Latino-owned businesses supported to 40. Together, these businesses employ 191 individuals across Oklahoma City and are contributing to the city's growth and vibrant small businesses landscape.
Over the past eight weeks, these ten Latino Business Owners have received hands-on business coaching from StitchCrew’s vast network of industry leaders, as well as access to workspace at the Thunder Launchpad, a premier innovation hub, sponsored by the Oklahoma City Thunder, a key partner since StitchCrew’s inception. Each participant will also receive a non-dilutive grant, provided by the Alliance for Economic Development of Oklahoma City through funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.
“If Latinos were a stand alone country, they would be the fifth largest economy in the world and the second-fastest-growing economy” said Erika Lucas, CEO of StitchCrew. “Unfortunately, despite all this growth, Latinos continue to be overlooked. Last year alone, Latinos made up 36% of all new businesses, yet they remain underfunded, under-resourced and underbanked.”
A recent Bain and Company report shows that should Latinos be funded at the same rate as white peers, they could generate $1.4 trillion in additional revenue today and $3.3 trillion in additional revenue by 2030.
