It’s Time to Realign Your Business Goals

If you’re halfway through the year and wondering, “What happened to all the goals I set?” — you’re not alone. The middle of the year brings with it a strange tension: part reflection, part pressure to push forward. Maybe you’re feeling stuck or behind. Maybe you’ve grown, but it doesn’t look or feel the way you thought it would. Or maybe you’re just trying to stay committed to a vision that’s evolving just as fast as you are.

You can think of this point in the year as a checkpoint. But you don’t have to wait for the year to be halfway done to do a reset. You may want to check in every quarter or after reaching milestone moments. These aren’t deadlines. It’s ok to pause and ask yourself what actually deserves your time and energy moving forward. You don’t have to start over. You just need to reflect, reset, and recommit — on your terms.

1. Start With the Wins (Even the Quiet Ones)

Before you dive into what needs fixing, pause and take inventory of what has actually gone well, especially the things that didn’t make it onto your highlight reel. Quiet wins are the foundation of sustainable growth.

Look for moments like:

  • Setting a boundary you used to avoid

  • Reworking an offer to better serve your clients

  • Taking intentional rest without guilt

  • Learning something new that changed your approach

  • Saying “no” to something that once drained you

Don’t skip this part. Your progress may not have gone viral, but it’s real. Honor the version of you who kept showing up, even when no one else was watching.

2. Review Your Reality — Not Just Your Goals

Now that you’ve acknowledged what’s working, it’s time to take an honest look at the systems, habits, and expectations that may need to evolve. Instead of measuring your progress only by what you set out to do in January, evaluate what’s actually true for your business today.

Use this as a guide:

  • What offers or services are still aligned? Which ones feel forced?

  • Where are you seeing the most traction, referrals, or ease?

  • What habits or workflows have helped? Which ones are draining?

  • Where are you spending time that’s not creating value or momentum?

This step isn’t about being critical, it’s about gathering clarity. When you base your decisions on what’s real, not ideal, you can move forward with more confidence and less chaos.

3. Give Yourself Permission to Pivot

If something you committed to six months ago no longer fits — you’re allowed to change direction. We’re all learning in real time, and the decisions that felt right before might feel misaligned now. That’s not failure. That’s growth. It’s what happens when you get clearer on what actually works, what truly matters, and what you no longer want to carry forward

Pivoting might look like:

  • Ending a product, offer, or partnership that’s no longer aligned

  • Refocusing your audience, niche, or marketing strategy

  • Adjusting your definition of success to match your current season

The key is to make the pivot from a place of reflection, not reaction. Ask yourself what feels more aligned now, not what’s easiest to abandon.

4. Recommit with Intention, Not Guilt

At some point, motivation will wane, but that doesn’t mean your vision has to. Recommitting doesn’t mean pushing harder or setting 10 new goals. It means returning to your purpose, your people, and your priorities with honesty.

Ask yourself:

  • What still matters to me about this work?

  • Who am I building this for?

  • What feels energizing — even if it’s challenging?

Then set your sights on one clear, doable step. Not a total reinvention. Not a massive to-do list. Just one step that moves you forward with intention and integrity.

5. Set a Focus for Q3

Instead of trying to overhaul everything, narrow your energy. Give Q3 a specific, focused intention. This intention should match your current bandwidth, resources, and goals.

Choose:

  • One goal to pursue

  • One boundary to honor

  • One habit to anchor your week

  • One system or person to help you stay accountable

You don’t need a perfect plan. Just a focused one. A sustainable business is built on small, repeated commitments. Let this quarter be steady and strategic.

If your year hasn’t gone to plan, that doesn’t mean it’s off track. Plans evolve. You evolve. And growth rarely looks like a straight line. Progress isn’t always visible from the outside, but it’s happening every time you reflect, adjust, and recommit to what matters. The fact that you’re still showing up and still willing to ask what’s next, that’s what real leadership looks like.
